Sounds bad for Alan. The announcement must have been at request of Hansen family.
Alan was nervous as a broadcaster and eventually despite a brilliant career as a pundit, he quit because he started doubting himself. Few would known this if he hadn't said it.
Even when Liverpool won the 2020 PL and 2019 CL and Scotland qualified for Euros, Alan didn't reappear on TV to comment AFAIK.
