I'm scanning some old documents and papers. They're in an awkward format - slightly bigger than my scanner.

I want to scan the sheet in two parts and then combine them to produce a full sheet. I'm going to create pdf's in the end but maybe it would be best to scan them as tiffs, join them together in some image programme and then convert?

Any advice? I will psychically send good vibes to anyone who helps ... not creepy sleazy vibes, just good ones.

you can automate this somewhat in photoshop using the photomerge tool. http://creativebits.org/2004/07/ps-photomerge.html

as for which is a better format tiff or pdf for scanning, i don't know.

Nice one Thesus, thanks. (If anyone is intterested it looks like TIFF's are far better in terms of quality of image for scanning).
