breaking down barriers everywhere he goes.

is that the guy from razorlight?

I don't see what the big deal is with a double amputee climbing Everest. Normal climbers don't have a spare pair of legs in their pack.

i've not heard that yet. but depending on some circumstances, climbing partners acknowledge the fact that if one is in a desperate state and the other has exhausted all options in trying to save them, they will be left behind. kinda like in touching the void; although it has been heavily disputed, certain circumstances will force one climber to have to make a very tough decision. it's the risk you take when you partake in such activities. i guess unless you're there it's hard to know what relaly goes on though.

"New Zealander Mark Inglis revealed about 40 climbers passed 34-year-old David Sharp as his life ebbed away. Mr Inglis's team saw Mr Sharp sheltering under a rock as they climbed through the "death zone" last week, the area above 8000m where the body starts to shut down from lack of oxygen.
Mr Sharp, who had climbed alone, was suffering from oxygen deprivation and appeared to be inadequately dressed in the -30C conditions.
After discussing how they could help, Mr Inglis's team decided nothing could be done and continued climbing."

oh god that IS grim.
the fact that they were in a big team an all.....

my post above was talking about the instance where it's two climbers together. but in this case to just leave him there is really grim.
