It's a busy month for the 'Bird...
First off, we're proud to say that Lakker will be releasing their debut album Ruidotomorrow, October 5th, on our very own Lazybird label. It'll be available in all good record shops and online from iTunes. (Catalogue number LAZYB12, if you need such info.) You can listen to excerpts from the album here:

And here's what it looks like:
Lakker are Dara Smith and Eomac, who make everything from abstract glitchiness to rampaging gabba using only a couple of laptops, the occasional microphone and their considerable musical smarts. Since they emerged from the late, great band (.undermine.), the two have been mainstays on the Irish music scene, playing at festivals like DEAF and Mor, and at clubs like the Remote Viewing Workshop and Neuromantek.
Their music is a mash up of various different styles and influences - anything from Miles Davis to Mike Paradinas. In the past Lakker have played alongside Andrew Weatherall, Kid 606, Andrea Parker, Exile, Chevron and Decal, among others.
The album launch party for Ruido will be held next Tuesday, the 9th of October, in CrawDaddy, from 8pm, with support from Decal. It'll be 10 euro in, and you'll be able to get the album on the night (for less than in the shops, even!)
And we've also got a couple of gigs in our usual time and place of Sunday in Anseo this month as well:
On the 21st, in association with the excellent folks at Rusted Rail, we'll be presenting Directorsound and Agitated Radio Pilot.

Then the following Sunday, the 28th, it'll be DEAF weekend, and we're currently planning on doing something for it in conjunction with the Alphabet Set, probably starting early and ending late. More info to follow...

And don't forget that we're still doing Radio-Inactivity, our weekly webcast at http://www.powerfm.org. It happens every Sunday from 6pm 'til 7:30pm. Tune in, turn up, drone on.
Thanks,

But there's more: the other Sunday night club in Anseo, Hefty Horse, asked us to let you know what's going on with them. So here's their blurb:
HEFTY HORSE
Sunday October 7th, 8.30pm
Anseo (upstairs), 18 Lower Camden St., Dublin 2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For this month's Hefty Horse, we welcome three bands: The Truro Syndicate, You Kiss By The Book and Christian Radich.
The Truro Syndicate have been on the scene for a while now and have been seen playing support for the likes of Richie Egan and The Connect Four Orchestra. They don't play many gigs these days, so this is a rare opportunity to see the lads perform. Phil's vocals are akin to the low tones of Bill "The Artist Formerly Known as Smog" Callaghan, which fit perfectly around the laid-back country sounds of the rest of the band.
You Kiss By The Book, the musical love-baby of Simon Dowling, is a folk-based, country-tinged journey through images of loves, lands and late summers evenings spent outdoors. You Kiss By The Book's work is made light by its many collaborators who Simon finds in the most unlikely of places. He will be performing with Steven and Phil this Sunday evening.
Christian Radich makes his merry way over from England to perform his wonderful music. He finds himself flying solo for this gig, away from his band Freak Paeans. Freak Paeans are on the wonderful Caff/Flick record label.
Upcoming Hefty Horse gigs:
Anseo, November 4th - Sing Song, Peter Delaney, Nouveaunoise.
The Boom Boom Room, November 24th - Tiger Saw, Sing Song, Carly plus guests TBA
Anseo, November 25th - Tiger Saw, Sing Song plus guests TBA
