Thats including postage from America, I couldnt find it on any of the europe distros at the time so got it direct from them. I'm well happy to spend that on something that so fucking good.

Amesoeurs. Brilliant album. They're described as 'Post Punk/Black Metal' but you could fit at least 5 other genres in there, including ambient, shoegazing, indie and electronic. One of the best of the year I think. http://www.myspace.com/amesoeurs

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo De Cotonou - The Vodoun Effect. New to me, 2008 reissue. Took a few listens but I really like it. Touch of the Congotronics about it (but it's better than that I think). Quite melancholic in places too. http://www.myspace.com/analogafrica

The Vodoun Effect is indeed great, but I think African Scream Contest is even better:

It covers a similar area in time and space, but has a bunch of other great acts as well as the Orchestre Poly Rythmo.

I wouldnt go so far as to call it muck, the girl has a nice voice and some of the guitar lines keep things interesting enough, but overall...nah.

it's all a bit 4 years ago isn't it? Nothing your standard joy division rip off band didn't do back in 2006. Some of it reminds me a bit of Love the Cup by Sons and Daughters (minus the mandolin and shrieking)

After reading all the gushing about them in the press I checked them out and couldn't believe how ordinary they sounded.
