Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is brilliant. Even better than It's Never Been Like That and that was a cracker.

The Eternal sounds ok, but the vocals sound very jaded. Also, there's very few new ideas.

Hospice by The Antlers is a very good album. Bleak yet poppy. Sounds kinda fucked up actually. I love the cover:

new alexander turnquist cd on vhf. thoroughly recommended for fans of basho or james blackshaws recent stuff. 12-string excursions with vibes, glock, strings. less varied than 'faint...' but maybe better for it.

2009 albums I've listened to over the last couple of months (these are personal opinions - I could have poor taste):

Gone Fishing - The Cool Kids w Don Cannon - crap;
Post Nothing - Japandriods - crap;
Actor - St. Vincent - crap;
Bitte Orca - Dirty Projectors - not good;
Dinosaur Jr. - The Farm - bad, sorry, but this is nearly as good as Where You Been or Green Mind;
Fever Ray - not great at all, by no means a classic;
Josephine - Magnolia Electric Co. - pretty disappointing, like their last few albums;
Manuel Tur - 0201 - ok, nothing special;
Three Fact Fader - Engineers - not great;
Open Hearts - The Longcut - not nearly as good as their last one, but not too bad either;
The Lives Of Lee Memorial - Lee Memorial - pretty good, maybe very good.

Just while I'm at it, Liege & Lief from Fairport Convention (1969) is something I heard there recently. It's really brilliant. As good as anything I've heard.
