NADJA (Canada) w/ AIDAN BAKER (Solo) - March 26th (1 Viewer)

I thought Eammon Bailey's stuff was excellent and Aidan Baker was good as well but i was very disappointed with Nadja. As a live band they just didn't do anything for me at all. The cover of A-Ha at the end was pretty awful as well.

i thought eammon bailey's stuff was a bit busy, some of ideas didn't get a chance to breathe I-I-IMO.

really enjoyed bakers set, but was pretty disappointed with nadja. the drum track really put me off. why even have it? it was so low in the mix anyway...

loved aidan baker's solo stuff, could have listened to that for hours. gorgeous.

i thought nadja suffered mainly from dodgy sound, i'd really like to hear them somewhere with a better sound system: as it was you couldn't hear half of what was going on a lot of the time and the drum track thing just sounded weedy. also for some reason the sound seemed to get worse as the gig went on.

I assumed the drums were intentionally low in the mix. I often find with drum loops like his that if they're too promient they become very boring very quickly. I liked that they were low and being drowned out.

I thought his solo stuff was more interesting but I enjoied both sets.

Aye, rough sounding for Nadja, but drums on minidisc was a bit disappointing. Not a fan of the A-ha cover either.
Pretty amazing value evening for €10. Fair play for keeping the price low.

That's the way they play the whole time (drums on minidisc & vocals buried in the mix and only singing for a few minutes) and it was superbly done at Roadburn. Then again the sound was fantastic there so I can't compare..
