Crayonsmith
Having played in various musical projects from a young age, in early 2004 Ciaran Smith began playing his own 4-track recorded songs live under the name ‘Crayonsmith’. Soon after, he asked close friends and local musicians Ronan Jackson and Ruadhan O' Meara to jump on board. With them, they brought bass, synthesizers, samplers, autoharp and live percussion/drums to the mix resulting in a fuller band sound.
Pikelet
Pikelet is the solo project for Melbourne artist Evelyn Morris (Baseball, True Radical Miracle). Initially playing in indie and hardcore bands as a drummer and vocalist, this guise sees her masterfully overlapping acoustic guitar, piano accordian, voice and alternative percussion techniques with a looping pedal. Pikelet demonstrates Evelyn’s softer side and insightful, clever songwriting, provoking visuals of medieval times and sparse, imagined landscapes. A handmade demo CD was unofficially released in mid-2006 titled ‘Chair + Lamp’, followed by another self-released ep entitled ‘Track-Suit Pants EP’ in January 2007. A self-titled debut album released in May 2007 drew a lot of critical attention and allowed her to tour overseas.
Adding a band for live performances in 2008 Pikelet then went on to release the Not So Still EP in eaerly 2009 before commencing her first North American tour with Bachelorette
