Colin Powell agrees to MTV terrorism debate
Colin Powell is to appear on MTV to answer questions from young viewers about the war on terrorism.
The US Secretary of State has agreed to take part in the hour-long forum, which is due to air next month.
Studio audiences at MTV locations around the world will be able to ask questions via a satellite link-up.
People will also be invited to submit questions on any world issue over the internet.
MTV UK & Ireland presenter Edith Bowman will host the London link-up to the main studio in Washington DC.
Other link-up locations include India, the Middle East, Italy, Brazil and Russia.
Mr Powell said: "Young people have long been one of my top priorities, and never more so than now.
"The world's youth are our greatest hope for solving long-term problems and for building vitally needed understanding between peoples and cultures."
Judy McGrath, president of the MTV Group, says the forum will be broadcast on channels reaching 164 territories and 374.7 million households.
She said: "Giving a voice to young people, and access to world leaders, is something we're very passionate about."
