I hope you guys can help a bit with this.

All of a sudden my monitor stopped working the other day. Now when I turn on the pc I get a warning message about resolution on the monitor and no signal whatsoever.

I've connected the monitor to a laptop via the analog output and that works fine. So, the DVI output on my desktop looks to be the problem.

Is it most likely that my graphics card is fried? Or are there some more likely causes.

Well yeah I've tried taking it out and putting it back in, but because I've got no monitor that's about all I can do. I don't have a driver cd for it because I bought the pc 2nd hand.

try booting into safe mode, and see if it works with just the standard vga resolution, and if it does then drop down the resolution display settings in the control panel.....

Well no, I didn't change any settings! But my monitor says the resolution is not at the optimal setting, and I get no signal.

That's why I think the graphics card might be fucked. I tried rebooting in safe mode and got nada :(

EDIT: Sorry, I really should have logged in as Nonemoreblack there.
