Bank Holiday Sunday 1st June. 11pm till late.

Tickets €16 from Ticketmaster and usual outlets

The undoubted highlight of this June Bank Holiday weekend is when legendary New Jersey hiphop MC SUPERNATURAL brings his increasingly notorious stage show to Temple Bar Music Centre for a late nite show. This is the undisputed World Freestyle Rap Champ’s fourth trip to these shores – previous trips have seen him blow both Jurassic 5 and Grandmaster Flash offstage at Dublin’s Redbox.

Freestyle rapping is about spontaneity – literally making it up as you go along – and there is noone is the world better at it than MC SUPERNATURAL. His breathtaking ability to form new rhymes around the crowd interaction that he always initiates are what make his live show so uniquely exciting – along with . Currently touring the USA as a personal guest of nu-metallers Linkin Park; Supernat, as his beloved Dublin fans have taken to chanting at him; is touring Europe to promote the imminent release of his debut album on Baby Grande Records.

This show will also feature a preview of the eagerly-awaited debut album from Dublin’s Messiah J & The Expert (who recently had to change their name from Creative Controle) whose five-piece live show just gets better – no wonder Public Enemy were singing their praises form the stage last month. Kilkenny scratch meastro Cool C opens up.

SUPERNATURAL

Supernatural is widely recognized as the most gifted freestyle MC on the planet. Only true heads can still recall how Supernat crashed NYC's hip-hop scene in the summer of 1993. Within weeks of his arrival, he would go on to win the New Music Seminar Freestyle Title, co-host a nightly radio show and land a record deal with Elektra Records. "Buddah Blessed It," Supernat's only release on Elektra, became an instant classic. What Elektra didn't realize back then was that a vibrant underground world was about to open up for real b-boys and Supernatural was in many ways the prototype. Supernat would go on to display his lyrical gift for hip-hoppers worldwide, garnering fans, friends and respect city by city, stage by stage, and mic by mic.

Since hosting the Word of Mouth Tour for Dilated Peoples, The Beat Junkies and Jurassic 5, Supernat has buried himself in the studio, determined to further chronicle his lyrical gift and prowess with the release of his first full-length album. Lookout for the release of his first single produced by DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies.
