back when I was on the dole it used to wreck my head when my mate would ring and say "are you coming for a pint"

I'd say " I have no money"

He'd say "ah just a couple fo pints, come on"

I'd say " I have no money"

He just couldn't seem to grasp the idea that 'no money' meant just that.

Most of these suggestions involve spending money too.

My advice is your mate should bum some money off a working friend ( perhaps someone who works as a delivery man) and then he can try some of the suggestions on here.
