Let this be the tread to post awesome local shit from anytime.
bands that mean something tangible to you.

Yeah, but there's a story behind one's "Local hero"!
Good "local" music really began for me when I came to Dubling first. Read an interview with Wormhole in Dublin Event Guide, back in 94. Dave, the drummer, said about his drums, something like "I don't know how to play them, but I love them". Beautiful! Sold! One of my classmates supported them for their album launch, I missed it, bought the album nonetheless, and saw them a couple of times just after that. I love(d) the way they talk(ed), then loved Chicks Dig Scars, then loved how mad they were live. They were a very liberating experience for my young and untainted brain. I stopped searching for the heaviest Death Metal album in the world, and headed off the beaten path, towards The Idiots and Schroeder's Cat territory, two more local heroes for me. I chose Wormhole rather than either of the other two because their original lineup is, miraculously, about to play the Joinery's last event, and because this song is so great:

Pet Lamb,Female Hercules,The Subterraneans ..thats it.

Thats the only three local bands I liked in the 90s

Heh!

I just remembered..Pet Lambs drummer is my drummer!

And a fucking genius is what he is

haha

i always hoped brian mooney of the idiots and brian mooney of pet lamb would form a band together.

by coincidence, both of them worked for me over the years. i still count the idiots one as a mate. (he's supporting little green cars this month.)
