Here's something we're doing next month. Do come along ....

Large Mound performing
Raised On Rock

Date: Friday June 6th 2008
Venue: Upstairs at Whelans
Special Guests: Queen Kong
Admission: 8 Euros
Time: 8pm

In 2002 the debut Large Mound album, Raised On Rock, was released and picked up rave reviews from all quarters. It has long since sold out though which means that all the new fans we have picked up in the last year have been unable to check it out. We are rectifying this situation by releasing a brand new remastered version of the album as a digital download on June 6th. To celebrate this we are performing the album in it's entirety, upstairs in Whelans, on Friday June 6th. The measly admission price of 8 euros will get you a voucher allowing you to download the album for free. Even better, our friends the brilliant Queen Kong, are going to play too.

"[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]With such an ostentatious title, not to mention all this talk of being "Ireland's answer to Nevermind", Raised On Rock has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it rises to the occasion with aplomb, tearing up it's canvas with incisive rock tantrums and impressive pop hooks. You're left humming the chorus to one song, while Anthony Mackey and his boys are already charging into the next tirade of heaviousity. But Raised On Rock is trimmed of rock excess and indulgence. Where the Mound clearly take their cues from US rock, punk and metal benchmarks, they rarely jettison melody for mindless riffola, but rather accommodate both. Good examples are the timeless angst of If Only I Hadn't Been Born and Rather B Rockin' . Even the nerdy axe-hero roll call of Everyone's Got One doesn't mar this blinding start-to-finish rocker. "

Stephen Quinn. he did our last single too. highly recommended.

You better play more than just the album. The speed you guys play things live it'll be time to go after 15 mins.

We also have spare CD covers that we can give to people if they want to include the new version in their CD racks. The cover is a lovely 2 colour print job on brown "sorta rough" paper.

Why you guys gonna remaster something that was very much a "lo fi" album?

:):clef:: stirr it up, little darling)

quite litteraly, for shits and giggles.

it's all being done (the re-release and launch gig) with tounge firmly in cheek. but the original album distorts in a fair few places, and not in the good way. so that's been sorted out. we didn't really know what we were at when we got it done the first time around so those issues were more down to us then Fergal Davis who mastered it originally.

and people are always asking if we are going to get more printed up. that would be way to expensive so we're doing this.

Free copies of the original covers for anyone who wants to burn their new downloaded version to CD and put in their racks.
This was a custom print job so we ended up getting thousands more than we needed at the time.
