KITCHENS OF DISTINCTION "CAPSULE - THE BEST OF KOD: 1988-94"
ONE LITTLE INDIAN RECORDS (TPLP613CDL)

One Little Indian Records (home of Bjork, The Shamen et al) have just
released a 2CD retrospective of their 1988-94 Kitchens of Distinction
recordings. KOD were the cult UK band that Sligo resident Patrick
Fitzgerald
used to be in before embarking on his solo career under the moniker
Stephen
Hero. CD 1 is culled from the four albums the band made whilst with
OLI and
the Limited Edition CD 2 comprises rare and harder to find B-sides,
Radio
sessions and Live tracks. Distribution in Ireland is with Pinnacle and
copies can be ordered by quoting the Catalogue number (TPLP613CDL) at
any
local record shop.

OTHER NEWS:

The first full-length Stephen Hero album, Darkness and the Day
(ARTFULCD44),
is scheduled for it's debut American release on May 6th.

The Druid Theatre (Galway) production of The Good Father, featuring
music by
Patrick, was recently recorded by RTE Radio 1.

This Imaginary Woman, a modern requiem by Patrick and Volcano
Theatre's Fern
Smith, is due to open in London with a five night run at Battersea
Arts
Centre (May 20-25th) and has been selected for a four week run at the
Edinburgh Festival in August before heading out on an International
Tour in
Autumn/Winter. There are hopes that it will come to Ireland as part
of the
tour. The Original Cast Recording CD, recorded last month at Patrick's
studio in South Sligo, is due for release to coincide with the
Edinburgh
shows.

!baggyyyy

ps. I fucking love them...even have a t-shirt! Didn't know about Patrick's recent work...thanks for that!

aye purchased Capsule at the weekend

the songs still sound marvellous all those years later
CD2 is great too. Get it will you can as according to amazing.co.uk Capsule regular edition is being released in mid May.

Love Is Hell and Strange Free World still pop up 2nd hand fairly often, classic albums the both of them

KOD

Saw them live in London, 1990 maybe? Liked the records, they were better live though. The sounds the guitarist got out were astounding. I heard that rival indie axe-masters used to go to their shows and just study his technique.

I think you'd like it.
The CD I got off you this evening reminded me of the S Hero stuff.

My Mom just told me that lying by innuendo is still lying. Hate her.

Invited back to hotel. Was on probabtion at work for being late. Had to decline the invitation.

The great rock shag that never was.

Oh wait, I did blow Jimmy Marcus from Die Warzau AND I made out with Jeff Tweedy, twice.

Ok, I'm still cool. Whew!

!baggyyyy

Love Is Hell, classic album

FUCKIN' HELL! This is true.

Fucking 2 euro. Best fucking buy ever. I sure am doing a lot of swearing.

Really hit me, from the second that 'in a cave' song begun. Yeah, the first second. Wow!

Raw, naked stuff.

I'm already on the case to get everything else by them.

FUCKIN' HELL!

Does this guy still live in Ireland?

Who are all these people on this thread?

!ninjaaaa

Anyone know what 'Death of Cool' and 'Cowboys and Aliens' are like, compared to the first 2 albums?

I've heard people say Cowboys is their best album.

the first two are way stronger I think.

the tracks from Death of Cool and Cowboys and Aliens that ended up on Capsule are probably the best tracks from those records.

The Death of Cool was one of the first albums I played on Alice's Restaurant (now Xfm Dublin) back in 91. Still raises the hairs.
