Here at the international headquarters of !kaboogie/wobble PLC LTD GmbH we've dug deep and produced a KILLER lineup for our xmas bash to ease your recession blues. Pay particular attention to our headliners - we've heard the new collaborations between PRINCE KONG and JAH BALANCE and they are some of the toughest, roughest, meanest, grimiest dirty bass explosions to come from our fair isle. Hear em here first!
Live acts in support are SOLEN, back for xmas from that London. Last time they played here they slew the Alphabet Set tent in Mantua, and !kaboogie's SIX FOOT APPRENTICE. DJs for the night are wobblers T Woc and Don Rosco, and Oshroom for breakfast. Bigness guaranteed!
Some biogs for those who crave more:
Prince Kong has been terrorising the underground dancefloors of Ireland and the UK for the last few years, and recently the US on a brief tour. His riotous mash of breakcore, punk, old skool hip hop, and dub was demonstrated on his 2008 release "I Make Me Rigid" on US label Middle Management. A recent change of tempo and a focus on hefty durty grimey dub led to a collaboration with Warrior Queen and whole heap of tracks with....
Tommy Trouble a.k.a. Jah Balance, a London based Jamaican ragga MC. The first few tracks they've done together are proper fist-in-the-air dancefloor monsters. Check out the mighty 'Stamina' and 'Dheflam' on Kong's MySpace for a taster of whats in store on the night.
Solen are an electronic music band from Dublin Ireland. Donal and John have been producing music under this name for two years. Their live shows are driven by heavy bass and drums processed by a system of their own construction. Song structures, tempos and rhythms are improvised on the fly. This allows for reactive context based performances: chaotic parties inform chaotic renditions of songs, quieter affairs see a quieter musical return.
Solen have gigged with Plaid, Chris Clark, Digital Mystikz, Ambulance, Scary Eire, The Wolfe Tones and many of the Alphabet Set's finest.
A 10 inch vinyl featuring the tracks 'Lord' and 'Block' is available now from all good record shops and online stores.
An Abc net release entitled 'Contextual Healing' released in September 2007 and can be downloaded for free at www.alphabetset.net
