I'll Eat Your Face are a two-man death/grind machine Barrytron from Captain Insano on drums on drums, and outlandish sensation Barra who operates the guitar. Check em out at http://www.myspace.com/illeatyourfaceireland
The Ghostwood Project are instrumental rockers from Galway influenced by the likes of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and the Deftones. Tunes online at http://www.myspace.com/theghostwoodproject
Summer Disease crashed into each other in January 2005. The following is a review from UNFIT FOR CONSUMPTION #10: "Summer Disease is a Galway band who've been on the go for about a year and house ex-Fuktifino and current The Boy You Hit Is Dead members in their ranks. Four songs here on their first offering and I'm kind of at a loss for comparisons other than the Deftones. A totally raw garage punk rock version of the Deftones mind as the sound on "Me Too Drugs" showcases. The other three tracks vary the pace and volume, a slight stoner vibe hidden beneath a flurry of throat ripping, blood curdling screams and squealing guitars and riffage http://www.myspace.com/summer_disease
Only Fumes and Corpses are from Galway. They used to be called Dein Kampf & before that they were called Council of Ten and play fast chunky riffs with big drums and screaming vocals. Their most recent visit to Cork was with El Bastardo in Cyprus Avenue recently http://www.myspace.com/onlyfumesandcorpses
Saturday 28th October
El Bynos are a 3 piece from Indiana in the United States. I know very little about them apart from the fact they contaced Noel from El Bastardo about a gig and we put them on this night to check them out. Itll be the 1st time a band from outside Ireland has played a Jazz Funeral weekend http://www.myspace.com/elbynos
El Bastardo are made up of the following langers from other bands in Cork quoted directly from their myspace page
Expect the usual drunken mayhem mixed with unsane meets big black type riffology http://www.myspace.com/elbastardohe artist formerly known as noel : six strings of anguish
bryan insano : weed eater
dan "the man" breen : four string gravel mover
slumpy and friends : pots, pans, animal bones
Ghost of Medina are a bunch of metalcore loving lunatics from Cork who always seem to be giving my mate Richie devils horns as they pass him on their bikes on the way to jamming on an almost daily basis.Ken from Insano is thrown behind a bass rather than a mic in this band. Theres a track on here http://www.myspace.com/ghostofmedina
Exploded Face are a heavy/ technical/ noisey/ loud/ fast/ band from Mayo that my mate Bob from those parts bent my ear off about at a party in Leitrim in August. I duly contacted them and they graciously accepted the buckfast challenge to come down and play some tunes http://www.myspace.com/explodedface
The lineups are in no particular order apart from the days they play and myspace is god for making it so easy to put links to tunes up for bands. Hope to see some of you there that weekend
