without losing the application itself? i am trying to clear out my hard drive but its full of msn and skype dmg files - can i bin them or will i lose the ability to run said applications if i do?
ta.

Not at all, delete away...

Although it is a good idea to back them up onto disc for a later date in case you re-install your operating system and need them again, or for another computer...
But, no you dont need them to run the application once it has been installed

ok great thanks. i seem to have accumulated so many and for some reason i keep think the last time i deleted one the application wouldn't tun.
thanks :)

it's ok to delete them if you've installed the application or copied it the to applications folder (or anywhere else on the hard drive).

if you were running the app form the .dmg (it would mount the .dmg, then launch the app) then deleting the .dmg clears the app the too.
(that's probably what happened to you the last time)
