iPod crashed -- help! (1 Viewer)

I didn't do anything. It was plugged in and everything, and then all of a sudden I got a window that said I didn't have enough privileges to access it, then it said it hadn't been disconnected properly and bye bye.

I checked the connection and everything, and it wasn't disconnected at any point, and neither the USB or the other thing were loose. It still says 'connected' on the screen, and it's still frozen with the little lock symbol on even though it's not locked.

I'm really upset because I can't afford a new one and I only bought it about three months ago. Is it possible to fix these things or do they make it so awful to do that it's not worth it?

Hold down the menu button til it restarts. All should be well then. Happened to me a few weeks ago and I very nearly cried.

How long did you have to hold it down?

Like more than a couple of minutes? Nothing is working.

I tried a good few times then left it for a while and tried again. Actually here's the detailed description of what to do(gotta hold teh menu and select switches simultaneously):

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
