that's a grand auld place - awful cheap and cheerful

why did i buy a shower curtain for 20 euro in habitat?

new coffee table is great and seems v. study...new
chest of drawers seems less so. still, dirt cheap and
does the jorb

handy but the novelty will wear off as things start to fall apart, crumble, stain easily etc.

The storage stuff is good.

ah yeah, i know that - considering the junk that i've had
for the last few years, it's a nice cheapo improvement

going up again soon to stock up on Billys for the dvds

I got a couple of (Lack?) tables a few years back that still look as good as the day they were self assembled. Same goes for kitchen table & chairs.

You're obviously doing it wrong.

THRILLHO has become an expert on this. They Billys are ok, but a bit too deep for DVDs. Better than the Argos crap we had before. For sure.

If we were going again, I'd be tempted to buy Vattern bathroom units for them instead, cos they come in the exact depth of a DVD.

oh aye? vatern eh?

billys are pretty much the same as the cheapo argos crap
i have at the moment. i think you can get extra shelves
for them to fit more in..yer right about the depth though.

none of their actual dvd-storage solutions are much use
for the discering dickhead who spends far too much cash
on dvds every month.

oh shit, Im going to belfast in 2 weekends time and I reckon Im finally approaching middle age when a trip to IKEA is high on my agenda and Im kinda looking forward to it, better hire an undertaker this year sometime, might need one anyday now

If you buy two extra shelves for each Billy then you can fit in more DVDs and they look even/neat enough, but bear in mind that if you're getting doors for them that the extra shelves mean that you can't put the doors in their normal places and will need a decent power drill to get the hinges on. We got white ones which in retrospect I have gone off but at least I don't have sixteen boxes of DVDs in my living room anymore so everyone's a winner.

explains a lot

arse.

serious though. the stuff i have a is a good few years old - they have improved a lot on product relaibility.

they are taking sustainbility/sustainable design more seriously now. some exciting stuff actually.

I've made children on my IKEA furniture.
Still stands up after two and a half years.

fucksake billy.

Here, when you are making the Ikea drawers, buy a tube of No More Nails or similar, and run a bead down the grooves that the base flat piece sits into.
It makes the whole chest of drawers thing 10 times stronger.
It took me about a year to figure that one out.
Also, for all that stuff, go around with you allen key 6 months after you built and tighten every bolt again.
The wood they use is not totally cured, and shrinks in the warmth of your gaff for the first while, so everything can seem loose after a while.

If you use a bit of cop Ikea furniture can be very fucking tough.

Billy's arse though. Flying up and down like that.
Jeeesus.

What was that film, Rita and Sue, and Bob too? A horn on him big enough to get on a the dangerous rides in Funderland unaccompanied by an adult.
