not really thought about it. Can't see it being in any way effective considering the people who need to see it happen.

If i was doing it (edit: organising the wider protest) I'd identify as many US Government IP blocks as possible and make them available for use in RewriteCond %{REMOTE_HOST} .htaccess rules. Anyone browsing to a site from a blacklisted IP address would be redirected to a standard block / info page. Reverse censorship, and not just for one day. Do that on wikipedia etc and you might get some attention.

I did the same here during that recent legal action against boards.ie, redirecting all traffic from a pair of IPs (a certain company and their solicitor's office) to www.digitalrights.ie
