been a long time since anyone said anything positive about some o' the local bands sooooo, having just listened to connect 4 orchestra, damien frost and coldspoon conspiracy mp3's i just wanted to say - top stuff! any chance of some jimmy cake mp3's?
i haven't had a chance to see any o' these lot live 'cos me ears are knackered since i got an ear infection earlier this year so it's nice to finally hear what they're like. looking forward to the redneck manifesto, dudley corpo. and paul o'reilly albums. keep the good work up guys...

I was actually going to do up some Jimmy cake MP3's of stuff from the forthcoming album, but the tracks haven't been mastered yet and the bass and bassdrum are only huge. I have our side of the Road Relish split as real audio on my hard drive here, but that's about it i'm afraid...perhaps I'll send it to Pete....

ahhhh - the one that sounds even better at 33rpm :p
when's the album due? y'know all you lot (trm, dudley, paul reilly, jimmy cake) should hook up and advertise all the albums together - really show those not in the know that there's a pretty good scene at the mo.

I have to agree...there are a shitload of really good Irish Bands around at the moment + good gigs on practically every week...thumbs up all round.
Where did you get the connect 4 orchestra mp3's from ? Does anyone know of any web sites where you can find decent mp3's for free ?

I think this is A Very Good Idea Indeed.

But what would I know?

mp3's are on them at:

connect4orchestra - http://homepage.tinet.ie/~connect4orchestra/

damien frost - http://www.alpharelish.com/DAMIENFROST/music.cfm

coldspoon conspiracy -
http://www.geocities.com/thecoldspoonconspiracy/

alpha relish (including road relish) -
http://www.alpharelish.com/web/recs.cfm

and of course there's plenty o' stuff on the music page and hosted sites here at good ol' thumped

i find most free mp3 sites to be verrrry hit and miss and actually alot more miss. best thing is to check out record label websites:

Domino: http://www.dominorecordco.com/
Warp: http://www.warprecords.com/
Matador: http://www.matadorrecords.com/
Constellation: http://www.cstrecords.com/
Temperary Residence: http://www.temporaryresidence.com/

There's a Jimmy Cake mp3 available from The Black Rag (in the Gallery section)
http://www.theblackrag.com/vol5/hole.htm

Also contains other interesting things and the best writing ever (especially at http://www.theblackrag.com/vol5/mark.htm )
Ha ha ha !

The mp3's on our site are a bit old they were just recorded live in our jam room, but hopefully by the time of our support slot for the rednecks launch gig we might have done our feckin 7". By the way how long does it usually take for 7" to get back from being pressed?

And on a different note the jimmy cacai were excellent last week they have gotten really together

how much mug would a mugwump wump if a mugwump could wump mug
try saying that five times fast with a mouf full o' marbles...

does yous find it easy to find the mp3s on the alpha relish site or not, i'm not sure if people realise or not but there's mp3s for almost every record featured on the site - i think at last count there was well over 150 mp3s... who stole my mp3? i want my mp3!

oh yeah, forgot to mention that damien frost recorded with bassetti (for those of you too young to remember, he played bass in jackbeast and now plays with burning love jumpsuit and he recorded numerous self-released records out of dublin including the null set 10") and it went real well. on listening to it unmixed, it sounded terrifying which is just what we wanted - we should be putting it out on cd near the end of the summer. i will only have enough dosh for cds - 'anyone want to blow some money pressing up a few copies on vinyl? anyone? ... dammit.

yeah, just in case anyone *missed* the other thread, the coldspoon conspiracy have just released a new 3 song 7". the songs are much better than the ones on them there mp3s we had.

so, anyone got around to reviewing it yet?

yeah i know but so what? it doesn't make me sad or anything... what's your point? p.s. you are soooo dead...

he does but it's nothing to do with us. 'see, thing is, even if i didn't like damo, there'd be nothing i could do about it. we were all out of out minds one night and made a pact with him - we swore to do his bidding until he was ready to appear in person. if i stop 'doing the damo', so to speak, speak a sow, i get it, me ma gets it and so do all you guys. it's my biggest fear, that he actually will appear some day ... we're so f*cked if he does...

i can't talk about that here, not like this. i've told pete about the whole thing and he's even afraid to feature damo on the music page... go figure.

i know all about who "DAMIEN FROST" is - and its not some fucking artist! thats for sure!

you gotta watch who you make pacts with hag.....

andy

ps - the mp3s on your page are shit hard to find. but they're shit good! so its a shitting relief to find em!
shit!
