Groundburst

Groundburst are a three piece from Dublin determined to forge a path for their highly singular take on instrumental rock. At times intense and emotionally charged, at others dense and mysterious, their music drifts through many sonic landscapes. Formed in 2005, Groundburst have gone through numerous line-up changes and played many gigs on the Dublin live scene, all the while fighting to bring their uncompromising yet highly lyrical material to the Irish listening public. The rhythmic bedrock for the music is provided by Simon Dunne’s driving bass and minimalist keyboards and the jazz-inflected grooves of Cathal O’Leary’s urgent drumming, allowing for Phil Dunne’s guitars to soar and cascade above in walls of ethereal cacophony. The resulting blend stands in stark contrast to the often insipid and lustreless qualities of much of today’s instrumental music.

The Holy Roman Army

The Holy Roman Army is Chris and Laura Coffey, a brother and sister from exotic Co. Carlow. Away from their day jobs as a doctor and psychologist respectively, they blend samples, synths, vocals and guitar to create music that encompasses electronica, hip-hop, dub, post-rock and shoegaze indie. Their favourite description of their sound is 'like El-P playing with My Bloody Valentine'- credit to Steven from Larmousse for that one. They have played numerous gigs in the Dublin area in the last few months, including the Future Days and Hard Working Class Heroes festivals. They have plenty more on the horizon so stay tuned to this site for details. They are currently finishing recording and mixing their debut album, entitled 'How The Light Gets In', with Stephen Shannon (from the amazing Halfset- see our friends section for a link) which will be released in time for the forthcoming great recession/depression of 2009. Danke.

Trails

Trails are a hypnotic instrumental rock band from Wicklow with a nihilistic aesthetic that eschews influences from krautrock, avant-noise, drone, shoegaze and post-rock.
