It's the first thing I look for when I'm anywhere new and I get excited when I come across them. Was going to post it in the travel thread but this should defy sub forums.

Most recently I was in Lisbon and came across one of my favourite record shops ever, had almost everything I've ever wanted. It didn't seem to have a name but its right beside Lux Fragil across from Station Apolonia.

In Reykjavik, 12 tonar was excellent.

Pet Sounds in Stockholm.

Avalanche in Edinburgh and the one at the end of cockburn Street, mainly cockburn street in Edinburgh.

Thats all that comes to mind right this second.

I always walk out of Avalanche with a bunch of deadly 2nd hand CD's, deadly wee shop. Fopp was awesome for buying £5 cds you'd never actually think to listen to.

Other Music in New York is great for skronky nonsense.

Amoeba in San Francisco nearly bankrupted me, what with things like Circus Lupus for $2

Reckless Records in Chicago can be deadly too.

my favourite record shop ever!

in boston twisted village is excellent, if not a little off the wall.
and for a chain ,newbury comics (the one on newbury street) is brilliant.

does anyone know any good shops in london besides rough trade?

EDIT: I see intoxica is mentioned above.

Have ordered plenty second stuff online from Newbury comics. Monkees etc.

London
- Intoxica (for 60s beat, soul, psych, jazz and soundtracks)
- Sister Ray,
- MVEs are good sometimes.
also is Honest Jon's still in business?

yup was in honest jons a couple of months ago. great spot. lots of good stuff coming out on their label as well..

16 Tons in Zurich.
Open Mind Music in San Francisco is a sweet vinyl only shop with everything in it and a high turnover. Apparently its moved from Divisadero to Market/Castro though. Anyone been to the new one/know if its an improvement or not?
