I also think that you should be allowed to say the past tense of plead the same way as read i.e. he/she 'plead' instead of 'pleaded', just like he/she 'read'.

This isn't strictly grammar but can someone explain to me the correct usage of the words "effect" and "affect". I kind of know, but I gets confused.

When you want to use the word "effect" you use the word "effect"

Similarly, if you need to use the word "affect" you use that word.
