Aww this was my favourite shop when I was J-1-ing it in NY (well, this and Sephora). It's a frickin' amazing store.

Mm, just bring loads of money with you. You'll find things there that you never even knew existed. I always ran out of money by the time I got to the letter 'C'. Ridiculously well-stocked shop.

Amoeba is in San Fran, though they do ebaying... or used to..

I got a copy of Woee Zowee from them and it arrived in an Amoeba Records plastic bag (and carboard obviously), it's really sad how excited I was about it at the time...

me too - every payday i used to go up to amoeba and buy cds and then whizz back down that big hill on haight st on my racer.

other music is great for finding totally obscure records often involving john zorn and a toilet, but it's a pretty expensive store, and i've always found the staff to be *ultra* snotty.

amoeba is incredible. found a bizarre amount of irish indie in their san fran store, things like the last post
