I have to make a statement to gardai on Wedneday, anyone know what way the whole prosecution process works? Or if it even does?

You have to get a solicitor dude otherwise the guards will just bury it ! You prob think I'm crazy saying that but i've seen it happening. Anyway you should be able to get a solicitor to work on 'no win no fee' . Also as said it will prob take up to a year before it gets to court. Try and get some money of out the guy . Say you have concusion and call in sick to work a few times. If its as open and shut as you say you'll have a good chance of getting something as long as your mans dad isnt rich!

Not too much as the victim but the less said about that the better.

Just do a google search for a solicitor that does no win no fee and criminal you should find one or ask around your mates/family see if they can recommend one. Its not that big a deal but you should at least go and have a chat with them , they'll tell you everthing. Your gonna have to use a solicitor at some stage in your life so don't be scared. You have to play the game with craic like this.

As I said it will usually take about a year once you find your solicitor they'll guide you through the whole lot.

I've been in various agro shit in town several times, a few occasions it was clearly my own fault, being a mouthy cunt and such like, other times it was completely random, not really any way of avoiding it. The only advice I would give really is trust your instinct, if you feel there's a dangerous crowd ahead then avoid them. If someone starts shouting, trying to get a rise out of you just get the fuck out of there. Failing all this, just socialise in your own home and double lock the door.

Man. I hate this kind of stuff - one of my good mates was the girl who got very nearly stabbed to death in a random attack last year. Hope the guy at least gets fined - her attacker got what seems like a ridiculously lenient sentence to me.

Yeah I expressed such a sentiment to the gaurd on the night in question but they said that they'll probably go nowhere since they were students (don't understand this logic of thought but hey).

Another guard told me that they can't keep them under surveillance 24hours which is obviously fair enough - just gotta hope that they're too broke to afford a ticket home.

Spanish Students???? Nah Guards wont go near that if there on holidays etc . But still worth getting a solictor to check it out for you. They might be living slash working here. One good thing if its you versus a foreigner in court and you have good witnesses you've got a good chance of winning
