Snowblood

After a long break from writing and playing live, Glasgow's Snowblood return to Dublin as part of their fourth trip to this Island. Their mix of epic Godspeed-esque build-ups with crushing Neurosis-style payoffs was most recently evident on their latest double lp Being and Becoming (Super-Fi/Lawgiver) and we're assured that they'll be showcasing some new material on their tour as well.

Praise for Being and Becoming:

"These guys manage to perfectly bridge the gap between beautifully executed orchestrations and cataclysmic codas, culminating in sludgy arias worthy of even the most pessimistic Scotsman." - Lipgloss

"Snowblood is Glasgow’s best experimental metal band of all time." -Smother

"Snowblood have set a benchmark in how to write a sprawling and intense epic, this isn't simply a collection of songs, but a thought-out and carefully constructed piece of art" - Ninehertz

"Fantastic, highly gifted and out of any boundaries. It’s a must-have and due to the fact, that also packaging and production absolutely convince, there can be only one rating, the highest rating." - Metal Observer

Slomatics

2 guitars and drums. No bass, but none is needed when you tune this low and collect valve amplifiers like they were going out of fashion. Like Floor on a ketamine binge with the Melvins. Currently finishing a new recording, you can check

out tracks from their last outing "Flooding The Weir" at the links below...

Long serving Czech grindcore merchants come to the UK to destroy senses and notions of melody. Established back in 1992, MT started life as a typical noise/grind band with the usual obsession with dissection tables and pathology reports. Over the years, the lyrics and mindset of the band have evolved into a socially aware critique of inequality, racism and intolerance (though a sense of humour is still apparent) ,whilst the music itself has intensified into a blistering crust/grind assault that will appeal to punks and metalheads alike.

In 2005 they followed an existing slew of releases with a new lp "BURNINHELL" - mp3 links to two of the tracks can be found below:

GURKHA

"The Bristolian answer to an Iranian nuclear scud missile being fired at London then recorded onto a four track in a bomb shelter. Gurkha will rip your face off with their sheer brutality. This lies somewhere between the punkiness of Eyehategod in their early days and Discharge put through an Al Quadea training school. These guys certainly do not give a fuck. Briliant." (www.crackfixpropaganda.cjb.net)

Bristol scumbags. What they lack in decorum and hygiene they more than compensate for with sheer attitude. The phrase "punk as fuck" may well be applicable.

COLDWAR

Formed at the turn of the millenium in Dublin,Coldwar started out as a three piece band and have since developed into a five piece. Influenced by underground hardcore punk, extreme metal,a deep mistrust of Church/State and other oppressive, intolerent and absolutist states of mind, Coldwar have to date released a demo, a full length album and a mini album. The band have toured all over Ireland, UK and have made forages into the US and mainland Europe. Coldwar plan to record a new full length album later this year...

first band 5 p.m.

MOJAKKA started in 2002 as a Hiski Salomaa cover band. He was a Finn who emigrated to America. A leftist military objector and IWW member, he entertained at Finnish ex-pat venues in New York in the 1920’s and 30’s. Some of his politics can be heard between the lines, but mainly it was and is party music.

Humppa is a type of dancing music from Finland, related to jazz and very fast foxtrot, played two beats to a bar. In Finnish language, the word humppa can also be used for all social dancing.
Social dancing in Finland fell into decline due to new modern dances that were danced alone. Social dancing however never died and humppa has maintained an important role in the Finnish culture.
Mojakka began with vocals, accordian, guitar, flute and drums. Since then the line-up has grown to a nine piece with mandolin, violin, double bass and a second guitarist. Their musical repertoire has grown also to include some jazz, tango, rock, a lot of old finnish punk classics, and all kinds of weird and wonderful music.
