Gorgeous George was speaking in favour of the motion 'That this house believes US FOreign Policy to be the greates crime since WW2' at a Philosoph debate. To dispense with all the boring stuff: Gerry Gregg, the opposition speaker, said something along the lines of 'there isn't a dictator that George hasn't taken to and taken from'.
Galloway stood up and demanded that Gregg take back what he called a slander and, when that wasn't done, shouted at the chairman of the Philosoph, accusing the chairman of failing to protect him. The next time Mr. Gregg spoke he reiterated his claims and said he'd be willing to stand over them in court. Galloway stood up and stormed out of the debate, denouncing it as a disgrace (or something like that) and about 200 people left with him.
There were still 300 of us there so we carried on, but it was a hella interesting night. Nothing like a bitching session between two people trying to defend their own past!
I also made a short and shitty speech. Well, you try standing up in front of 500 people on your first time as a public speaker.
