Gorgeous George was speaking in favour of the motion 'That this house believes US FOreign Policy to be the greates crime since WW2' at a Philosoph debate. To dispense with all the boring stuff: Gerry Gregg, the opposition speaker, said something along the lines of 'there isn't a dictator that George hasn't taken to and taken from'.
Galloway stood up and demanded that Gregg take back what he called a slander and, when that wasn't done, shouted at the chairman of the Philosoph, accusing the chairman of failing to protect him. The next time Mr. Gregg spoke he reiterated his claims and said he'd be willing to stand over them in court. Galloway stood up and stormed out of the debate, denouncing it as a disgrace (or something like that) and about 200 people left with him.
There were still 300 of us there so we carried on, but it was a hella interesting night. Nothing like a bitching session between two people trying to defend their own past!

I also made a short and shitty speech. Well, you try standing up in front of 500 people on your first time as a public speaker.

Deadly. Heated debates are amazin'. The Shell to Sea one in UCD was deadly if a little under-attended.

Micheál O' Seighin of the Rossport 5 did a talk last night and he seemed like the sweetest, gentlest old man ever. *sigggggh*
Much more radical-minded than I would've thought too!

Fair play for making a speech though, Ciansy, any debate I've been at, it looks daunting as fuck to say the least to be up there!

Galloway was on that dinner program Portillo hosts on Beeb 4, and having nothing better to do I watched it... I can never figure George out, some people who's opinions I respect think he's a great fella, other people, who I again respect think he's a tosser.

Thing is anytime I see him on the telly he's always losing his rag about what people think of him, I've never seen him make a point, or a statment, or generally finish a sentance without suddenly waving his finger about and accusing everyone of having a go at him and generally being a bit of a tit... He really does himself no favours at all in that department.

I have to say that neither of the speakers came across as particularly well-balanced, or as addressing the issue at hand.

Oh and thanks, Eoddy :)

i think exactly the same as ya. he has the mentality of a 13-yr-old and anyone who disagrees with him is a 'fascists'.
he does the lefty cause no good at all. i know loads of wankers like this. i cant understand why anyone listens to him anymore

he is EXACTLY like you simon. EXACTLY.

i'm not standing for this. if you can't interview me like i am the king of the world and deserve more respect than any other human being on the planet i will not talk with you. i don't care about you or what you have to say because I am king and i am right. i don't even care about what i have to say or care about defending my point as long as I am in charge. i know i'm a dickhead and that is why i use hundreds of impressionable students to do my campaigning and work.

gooooood bye

George Galloway is one of the best politicians today who has made a joke of the US hypocrites in their own backyard and shown the total hypocrisy of the illegal Iraqi war/occupation.
Of course his not everyones cup of tea because of his brash arrogant way but give me him over "new Labour" anyday.

I love you Corey.
xx

No you dont. I have a girlfriend, and a daughter and am quite poor,it would'nt last.

America; now she's really big, loves donuts, gullible as fuck and really really wealthy. And you're always bitching about her when she's not around. Admit it janer, you could spend the rest of your life with America, because America's your kinda gal.

'there isn't a dictator that George hasn't taken to and taken from'

Galloway is a twat in my personal opinion, but he shines best when in conflict for example, when he made shit of the sky news anchor a few months back.

going back to the UCC debate. if the quote above is in fact what was said then it is a serious slander on galloways charactor. i dont know if anybody remembers, but george won his case against the telegraph last year when the suppsedly found documents pertaining to him receiving money for his support of Hussein. and if that quote was said in relation to what happened with the telegraph then he could be in trouble.....

"You mean people have finally realised that I don't have any political opinions other than 'I am always right and anyone other than me in a western government is some kind of dictator' then??"

"DOH!!"

He's an insult to socialism that man. Totally self serving.

ann coulter does the same thing. i mean everyone knows she's an adam's apple-sporting lunatic, but sometimes i wish she'd back up her crazy claims.
