is anyone growing any veg this year? Fucking slugs!!!!!:eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad:

We're now concentraiting on the orchard, herbs and fruit bushes. With a few last efforts of vegetables.

Any idead fro defense against pests. Tried beer traps, they work pretty well.

My mate around the corner is doing amazing stuff with a small concrete yard, lots of tubs, pots and growbags. She's got beans, rocket, tomatoes, strawberries, onions, carrots and radishes. Well, the carrots aren't going great but everything else is coming along well. It should be too since we're getting rainforest-like weather lately.

I spend a ridiculous amount of hours playing Harvest Moon on the DS. Does that count?

i know the motherfuckers ate my housemates pumpkins, and attacked my courgettes and tomatoes:mad:.

I'm keeping stuff on my window now till it gets a bit older. My housemate has gone to war on the fuckers. She put a load of slug pellets around her last surviving pumpkin plant. Its like something outta WWI - slug and snail corpses everywhere.

I'm not crazy about using that stuff but what ya gonna do? Coffee grounds are supposed to work but haven't done much for us. A dude in work is using beer traps but reckons theres extra amounts of slugs around this year.

Table salt does wonders on slugs and doesn't seem to do much damage to the plants. Go out in the evening and sprinkle directly on any slugs you see.

beer traps are fines, from experience. i'm growing garlic, beetroot, radishes, and rhubarb in the ground, and other stuff in pots. i never seem to have any luck with lettuce, they all stay really small or go to seed.

sea weed sounds ideal, cuz it gives a lot of nutrients back to the soil. it also works as a good mulch to keep grass and weeds down.

The rain is good for the plants, but it really brings out the slugs!! maybe its a freakish year fro them.

im veggie, but i hate slugs, i dont care. they have no purpose!

I tried beetroot + radish last year, no luck.
High yield, low maintenance is good, my only criteria. Is cauliflower hard to grow?
Rhubarb is rampant, thought it died there for a while, but nooo.
Planted lots of lettuce and it's grown like mental. Maybe the soil is completely different where you are.
