Raidio na Life and Eoin ó Fearghail are delighted to announce the upcoming broadcast of Fuaimrian, commencing every weekday from July 5th and running for 7 weeks. Each clip will be broadcast at 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 18:05 and at some point between 20:00 agus 21:00.
Fuaimrian is an Irish translation of 'sound-print', and is in some ways analogous to the concept of a person's finger-print. Compiled from audio recordings of encountered everyday sounds over the course of a single day, each 30 second clip captures some essence of a single person's unique day.
The broadcast is intended to give rise to a shared experience amongst listeners who may recognize sounds in the clip. It is also hoped to expand people's awareness of everyday soundscapes and the diversity of sounds surrounding them on a day to day basis.
All material will be available on the the project website [fuaimrian.net] subsequent to broadcast.
