I know it was changed at some stage but never kept track of what was done the day some eircom techhie guy came to sort it out:eek: will have to wait until the missus is around to get to the bottom of it. It's the standard eircom box, about 2 and a half yrs old..

have you got your DNS set locally or do you get it from the router?
emm.. I switched to OpenDNS a few months ago and assumed that doing that changed settings on the router rather than locally? If it's only locally then that would explain it.

just got this fix and it did the trick:

Using XP.

Start - Connect to - show all connnections.

Right click your connection - Properties.

Choose Internet Protocol to highlight it - Properties.

Choose "use the following DNS server addresses"

Primary: 208.67.222.222
Secondary: 208.67.220.220

Okay.

Works deadly.

good old opendns. just bear in mind that you'll have to do that on any machine connecting to the router (PC, mac, consoles, wireless devices) - much handier to do it on the router itself.

or get a decent ISP, ha.

Anyone else on Eircom having problems accessing apple.com? The day I get an iPod the site craps out on me, I know it's up as I can access it on my VNC server so it must be an Eircom thing.

When i got to OpenDS > Add network I'm given an IP address

Should I clickAdd or should I enter the IP address as in Tommys post?

Also just saw this..

go to
http://192.168.1.254/
then click expert mode, it should say warning bla bla bla click yes enter expert mode... Read More
then on the left click config then connection change the primary dns serverfrom 0.0.0.0 to 208.67.222.222 and the secondary dns server from 0.0.0.0 to 208.67.220.220
then click save and restart connection (its at the bottom of the screen)

does this work?

EDIT

it appears to be the same thing that Tommy posted?

I seem to have OpenDNS automatically. It tells me I'm using it basically I noticed it since today.

Its fucking annoying, it looks shit and does shit searches. Which makes me not want to keep it, even though it's apparently good?

Someone explain - is it something eircom are doing because of their shitness over the summer?

Also I can't go onto piratebay anymore. Though I assume that may have been like that for some time.
