You could download the VLC player. I hear that ignores region coding on DVDs. You have to stop your mac from opening the Apple DVD player when you put in a DVD though. You can do that in System Preferences.

im out of region choices
i put the dvd in
close dvd player
then open vlc
then point vlc to the dvd in the drive
and thats it

It doesn't let me quit out of the player, just hide it. I just got it to work though by opening VLC first and dragging the DVD over to it. YOU ROCK. Seriously, you just made my day. Thank you.

Yep. That's the trick. I've never had to set the region on my new macbook after setting vlc as default.

I actually changed the preferences like suggested so now it's no problem at all. Coast is an awesome show. I love Neil Oliver.
