Daithí & Elaine Mai (double header)
+Rachel Boyd
Friday Oct 19th, The Workman's Club
Tickets available from www.tickets.ie & Ticketmaster outlets nationwide
Daithí uses loopstations, kaoss Pads, synthesizers and drum machines to create a unique and exceptional sound all centered around one instrument: the Fiddle. Some people call it post trad, others say it's Indie traditional electro math rock looped with a twist, whatever the genre the end result is energetic, loud and a damn good time.
"Anyone still glancing back at Daithi’s televised appearances of a few years back, when he stormed the talent show scene with a series of virtuoso fiddle solos, is in for a shock when they stumble upon the modern day version. Today, Daithi’s a purveyor of looped, synthetic dance floor fillers... Daithi as an electronic maestro is toe-tapping, driving and cleverly constructed in its own right." - James Hendicot, Goldenplec
Elaine Mai has made a huge impression on the Irish live scene, not only with her own solo shows but also with some impressive support slots and guest vocals on Carraroe by Daithi and Love System by Le Galaxie.
Her music is timeless – powerful lyrics, haunting vocals are layered over harmonies, beats and guitar and looped to create swelling, atmospheric melodies so captivating it’s hard to remember it’s just herself on stage. Emotive pop music for the 21st century.

Rachael Boyd is an electro-acoustic artist from Belfast who started off experimenting with home recording projects on her violin, piano and guitar. Her music has been described as "tragic yet powerful and mesmerising with hushed vocals, bittersweet piano and electronic flourishes". Live, she operates loopstations and electronics along with fellow string players and on occasion a full band.
She released her first EP 'Back In Your Box' through Eleven Eleven label in late 2011 and is due to release her next EP late Autumn 2012.
