The Story of Denovissimus:

Denovissimus was born to darkness before the birth of Christianity. He had belonged to a tribe of priests that were dedicated to the light. They goal had been to reunite the spirit with the greater one, God, ruling over all. But in order for the spirit to be released from the body, it first had to go though of many levels of mastery.

The final stage was to ascend from the existence and enter into the greater realm of spirit, which would be closer to God. The tribe members were adept at energy manipulation, telepathy and exhibiting various levels of telekinesis and they could even enter into a realm called Dreamscape.

One night a Desert Dweller, that had not disturbed them before, approached Denovissimus and told him that he had to sacrifice himself to the dark. Denovissimus fought against it, but the attacker got what he wanted and he changed Denovissimus into a vampire. The Desert Dweller showed him how to survive but nothing else and disappeared from his life. Later on he was left by his fledgling, Invictus, as well.

Now he is "obsessed with doing the right thing as he sees it; a search of spiritually and the place of the vampire in the universe is his motivation".
