Cult Heroes of the 80’s – The Polecats

Before The Stray Cats found their niche…before Morrissey found his back-up band, Boz Boorer, Tim Polecat & the Polecats were quite literally tearing up venues and auditoriums across Europe.

The Polecats, heavily influenced by punk and 70s glamour rock (amongst other things), scored three British Top 20 singles with "John, I'm Only Dancing" (David Bowie song), "Rockabilly Guy" and a cover of the T-Rex (Marc Bolan) song "Jeepster". Soon after the release of their debut album for Mercury records “Polecats are Go” the Polecats disbanded.

Boz Boorer left the group to work as a guitarist, musical director, and co-songwriter with Morrissey. Credits include "Your Arsenal", "Southpaw Grammar", "Maladjusted" "Beethoven was Deaf" etc.

THE POLECATS play THE VOODOO LOUNGE Dublin on Friday November 17th. One of only six shows this year in Europe. Support on the night comes from M.D.M (UK PUNK) + Aces Wild.

Doors: 8.30pm. Tickets available on the Door or @ www.tickets.ie Tickets: €15 before 9.30pm, €17.50 after 9.30pm.
