Having terrible trouble with this. Has anyone got a simple straight forward way of making a usb bootable with an ISO image???

I want to backup a Acer notebook before a put a different OS on it. Tryed clonzilla, got as far as the backup and it failed. Im more familiar with Acroins and have an iso of the backup software just need to make a usb key bootable.

I would have thought that the fact its a USB key is irrelevant. Once you have the ISO image, and set your system to boot from the device that stores the image, it should work regardless of what that device is.

my only experience of this is burning UNIX ISO images (solaris in my case) to CD and setting the boot order in the BIOS to look for the cd before the internal disk.

no you just point it at the ISO and it writes the files to the USB device. you can then boot from the USB drive (assuming a. the ISO was of a bootable image and b.your PCs bios lets you)
