hey, i'm looking for contributions for my zine on anything and in any medium. I wanna make it as diverse as possible so i really don't care what you wanna submit, i don't want to limit it to any topics, but i would like personal accounts and views on domestic and sexual abuse, self harm, eating disorders, rape, homophobia, racism, sexism, drug and alcohol abuse etc. as well as stuff on music, art, poetry, books, sex & sexuality, riot grrrl, human rights or anything you feel passionate about or wanna speak out about blah blah blah. Your voice is a weapon –use it!

Best zine ever! I had the AK Press book but someone lifted it on me from Smithfield. Bastards. The NAMBLA interview was the best.
Shame your one died (forgot her name?). And did Jim Goad get done for riding a youngster? Fair fucks to him.

yeah debbie died of cancer.
he got in a huge fistfight with his ex (a total psycho by the sounds of it) and beat the fuck out of her and went to jail for a few years. his last book 'shit magnet' goes through all of that. it's decent. he's one unlucky guy.

andrew

He didn't get his ride on with a kid? Damn.
To be honest, I couldn't imagine someone who has beat the fuck out of his ex painting a pretty picture of how nice she was. But I haven't read the book. And I'll *only* buy the book if there's some KrAzY interviews with total fuckwits.

What was that other book he wrote? pornography or something? Jesus Christ the man is fucked. Stick to the kRaZy industrial and not little boys and AIDS, Sotos.

'pure' was his zine
and i think 'tick' was a compilation of stuff
not really read much of his stuff...don't really want to, y'know?
his collage piece of samples of rape/etc victims on the last whitehouse album is like the biggest whitehouse cliche ever
how long before this thread moves onto mike diana, boyd rice, adam parfrey etc etc?

andrew

The only other one I have is Index, but he's done Tick, Lazy, Pure, Total Abuse among others....

Yeah, but then again Whitehouse are all about cliches...ever hear Sotos's Buyers Market CD on AWB. Just one CD full of collages of the usual victims/children/murderers/rapists, I like it....sickening stuff but hey each to their own...I've robbed many a sample off that CD for me noise gigs

Stick to the kRaZy industrial
Tape Delay & Industrial Culture Handbook are good reads...back when SPK, Throbbing Gristle, Swans & others where something to be afraid of...now too many E's or something fucked it all up and its all about the "beat" man....

mike diana, boyd rice, adam parfrey
Dana, did he do the Iron Monkey cover or is that Joe Coleman I'm thinking of? Rice, not a huge fan of his writings or music. Parfrey, well Feral House have churned out some classic, but the shit is churned out as much...he's meant to be doing a history of grindcore(???) book, so he gets my vote at election time .|..|

I feel bad for us hijacking the thread, hopefully someone will contribute to the zine :)

i know that the guy who did that artwork has to register as a sex offender in the US because of the artwork he's done... but not sure if it was actually him

Apocalypse Culture 1 and 2 are worth reading. Eye opening stuff. Volume 2 contains a piece written by Jim Goad called "Roadkill", which is directly about the beating of his girlfriend, essentially what wnet though his head at the time.

Peter Sotos also features in both volumes, in the second with a horrible article addressing his arrest for possession of child pornography and issues related to the murder (or more accurately, the media coverage) of Jon Benet-Ramsey.

Sotos (who also wrote a piece in the "rape" issue of Answer Me!) was the first man in the U.S. to be convicted for the possession of child porn. The full story of what went on may be of some interest to some of you. Here it is:

http://www.fpcmagazine.org/sotos.html

Also, here is an example of the writing of Peter Sotos:

http://feastofhateandfear.com/archives/sotos2.html

It is from his book, "Tool", and was the piece included in the affore-mentioned issue of Answer Me! "Pure" was his first 'work', a pro-rape zine which glorified child molestation, murder and nazi death camps. "Total Abuse" was a compilation of this and earlier writings. Three other books- essentially rants interjected with press cuttings- are "Tick", "Lazy" and "Index".

His work is extremely difficult to read. Not becuase it is badly or over written, rather he explores areas of thought, action and mind that are (to me, at least) totally abhorent. His work is truely nauseating. Interviews with him reveal him to be an absolutely repulsive individual. He is openly racist, sexist and homophobic (even though he spends most of his time cruising). It is a misanthrophy based on self-hatred. I have an interview between him and Jim Goad which I can post or send to anyone interested. To be honest, my interest these sorts of characters has pretty much dwindled after being confronted with the reality of them.
Sotos was recently kicked out of Whitehouse. Bill Bennett (who is Whitehouse, essentially) is a real gentleman, however. A very pleasent and unpretentious sort. The previous three Whitehouse albums have contained collage pieces made by Sotos (and a full length Sotos album of this stuff- Buyers Market- exists) which are basically just collections of grieving parents, drug addicts, prostitues and victims of rape and child molestation talking, in obvious pain. I feel they work well in the context of the albums, and raise interesting issues about the glorification and manufacture of victimhood and the lazy and exploitative nature of both tabloid media and art, but it is hard to disguise my disgust when I hear that Sotos compiled these recordings to masturbate to. The most harrowing example of this is the track "Private", the final track from Whitehouse's "Mummy and Daddy".

Incidentally, does anyone hear have an original copy of "Mummy and Daddy" that they would be willing to sell? I just have a CD-R of it, but want the original cover and lyric sheet. Anyway...

I am glad Sotos is no longer involved with Whitehouse. Their best album was their last "Bird Seed", which Sotos had nothing to do with, other than one collage track. As an aside, all the Sotos wank-misery-collages were produced by Steve Albini, who is one of Sotos' best friends. From The Frames to that...

I think Sotos' writing should be out there, but it is a glimpse into a world that is horribly, painfully real. He is a truely horrible fucker, however.

Regarding Boyd Rice. His instrumental noise work (as NON) is some of the most innovative and impressive of the true Industrial scene (mid to late 70s, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and Skinny Puppy, great as they are, are not industrial music). Check out "Easy Listening for Iron Youth", all of that stuff is his best. All the spoken word stuff he has done, however, I thought was awful crap. His stuff with Death In June is rubbish, and he does get into this nazi-glorifying scene that is for the most part, pitiful.

"Industrial Culture Handbook" (Re/Search) is worth picking up to see where it all started, mostly with Throbbing Gristle. Who strangely have gone from being as punk as it was possible to be (in terms of anarchic attitude) to having been officially remixed by the likes of Basement Jaxx and Carl Craig.

The world is wierd.

albini put sotos up when he was awaiting trial...the story behind that is pretty funny - some nazis killed themselves in scotland, police find sotos' zine, think it's real, contact fbi/police whatever in chicago, investigation, blhahlba, obscenity laws changed.
all a bunch of suckers.
wasn't the child porn they found some photocopy of a photocopy of a young girl from some danish naturist magazine or something like that? i dunno, retarded anyway. i too have pretty much grown out of any interest in these same old same old fuckers.

my friend saw whitehouse a few times with sotos and said it was the most threatening thing he's ever been to. far cry from the dublin show which was a lot more of a 'fun' performance than i ever expected.

"Pure" came to attention of authorities when some idiot industrial-satanist types from scotland were arrested for stealing human bones from graveyards to make trumpets. Probably after listening to too much Psychic TV or some shit like that. Their apartment was searched and a copy of "Pure" was found. Considering the content- what little I have seen of it anyway- it isn't surprising the police took exception to it.

Danish naturist magazine? Bollocks. Sotos was arrested for possessing a magazine called "Incest", which according to Sotos himself in one interview, showed a very very young girl (way below the age of consent) involved in some very nasty hardcore act. According to Sotos, there ways "no way she could be consenting". Maybe thats just him trying to get himself hard...

Sotos did fuck all musically with Whitehouse, live he just used to attack the audience and incite them to violence. Which I think Bill Bennett got pretty sick of, for one thing. Bennett is about 42 now, I think the novelty of having pint glasses thrown at him has worn off.

The Dublin Whitehouse show surprised me. Not loud enough, at all. I was sitting infront of the main speaker on the left side, and i was totally underwhelmed. I was also surprised at how ridiculously camp the whole spectacle was. It was just like a stand up comedy act. Still, I do love some of Whitehouse's studio work. Especially the last three albums, it's marvelous stuff.

ok - think i was getting them mixed up with the equally retarded english nazi suicide pact that got jim goad in trouble...

ok! i remember reading the opposite (and thinking "oh seems harsh!"), but i don't doubt the other scenario...i do wonder how much of that whole thing is bravado with dudes like him and the others mentioned here. "no, i'm the worst person ever!"

those amps could have gone way higher. that's all i'm sayin. at the time i was a little off by the fact they were just playing everything off a sampler...but i'm kinda feelin that idea more now. 'birdseed' and 'cruise' (particularly 'birdseed') are miles ahead of the earlier stuff. man 'wriggle like a fucking eel' is like a pop song. amazing shit.

Yeah, it did reek of noise-careoke. Still, I did enjoy it, but in a belly laugh way and not a ear splitting way. What were those little sampler- things they used anyway?

"Bird Seed" is one of my favorite albums at the moment. "Wriggle" is a fucking amazing song. I met my girlfriend because of that song (I had to give a lecture on "the boundaries of music/what is music" in my college, I played that track really loud along with Merzbow, NON, Nurse With Wound to about 100 people- the reactions were quite amusing)- she loved it! Thank you, Whitehouse!
"Philosophy" off that album is great as well, it does what the early stuff (like Peter Kurten) tried to do, but much better. That's a marvelous song.
"Princess Disease" is kicking also.
