hi all,
Was thinking of getting the computer below to get started on some home recording. Would it do the job?
Don't have a clue what else I need (besides mics), how much would it set me back?
Any help much appreciated.

your looking at a fair few quid to be honest. checkout www.thomann.de for gear
you need a desk with at least 8 inputs
and a soundcard that has at least 8 inputs and 8 outputs, though that depends on what type of music you wanna record. if its bands, you need at least 8. Then you need software, i recomend Adobe Audition, its not too hard to use and it sounds great. though you could download something like Ntrack Studio at the start for free to mess around.

get back to me here and let me know what type of stuff you want to record and we can advise better
