CLUB AU INCOMING ’09 SPECIAL IN ASSOCIATION WITH MILLER GENUINE DRAFT – SATURDAY FEBRUARY 21
Club AU in association with Miller Genuine Draft is a three-roomed extravaganza featuring the best in Irish bands, artists and DJs. There has never been a better time for music in Ireland, and the two main strongholds of Belfast and Dublin both boast extremely healthy scenes. The goal of Club AU is to continue to build bridges across Ireland and to bring the best in music to new audiences.
This month, we are proud to present the Club AU Incoming ’09 Special. The Attic plays host to three brand new acts, names that you are sure to hear much more of in the coming year. The Ball Room plays host to OMGWTFDISCO, with FAUX DJs manning the decks. The Bunker Club will continue to be the staple of Lavery’s, with Gregz McCann guaranteeing enough dancefloor action to fell an elephant. The times will be good.

THE CONTINUOUS BATTLE OF ORDER
Fresh from the recent split of We Are Knives, guitarist Hornby and drummer Craig Kearney bring their virtuosic avant-rock talents to a new project, The Continuous Battle Of Order. So new, in fact, that Club AU will be only their second gig and their hometown debut. Expect them to hit the ground running with buzzsaw riffs, jazz interludes and lots and lots of noise.

MASTER MERCENARY
As he puts it himself, “Master Mercenary once consisted of a lone musician with severe delusions of grandeur who fancied himself as a real maverick and decided he could use the advent of the digital music era to dispense with the need for collaboration with others, à la Trent Reznor. Although he has done this with relative success, he has since discovered that going-it-alone is not nearly as much fun as you would imagine, and has therefore taken the necessary step of acquainting himself with some talented musical comrades.” At Club AU, those comrades will help the Master bring his fizzing brand of synth-rock to life.

KICKS BLUE
Managing the impressive feat of not sounding like a single other band in Northern Ireland, Kicks Blue take their cues from the forward-thinking likes of Animal Collective and Liars; Neu! and Faust. It’s minimalistic, experimental stuff, yet still managing to be strangely ‘pop’. Shimmering synths, thudding beats and vocal harmonies are the order of the day, and the live show promises to be deliciously different to the norm.
