There's a thread about the 450 already. Pete started it I think.

I'd reckon the 400d will give you better value. €600 in Gunns on Wexford st. Cheaper on the internet no doubt.

The 450D does come with an IS lens though and, even though it may not be the best quality optic out there, it's still better than the yoke that comes with the 400d. Though how much this will benefit you will depend on whether or not you'll be buying more lenses. Plus there's the cashback thing which I think is still ongoing.

Don't rule out the Nikon's though, as you can pick up compatible lenses on the net for next to nothing and the quality is superb. Except the D40, that is, which is middling at best.

The 450D also has the 3" LCD screen as against the 2.5 for the 400D.....Makes a bigg diff, oh and it has live view and other stuff.....2mp extra pixels too.
I r fond of my 450D.
