Two things happened - when i spoke to the man from a certain Dublin venue about booking said venue and got treated like a complete fucking idiot, like he was doing me some sort of big favour just by talking to me, it just reminded me of how much all the shit that surrounds organising gigs pisses me off.

Plus I went to america and realistically, being away for 2 of the 4 weeks preceding the proposed date wouldn't really have been a good idea....

and on that theme... might it not be time to collate some of the information and experience of those who regularly drop by here? in order to provide information about which places to use, and who to avoid, that sort of thing? i know this haas been suggested before, but it fizzled then.

that sounds like a damn fine suggestion...having had a similar experience to pete (and I'm sure many others) trying to organise an event/gig in a certain venue in temple bar. The guy was a f*****g idiot who after having arranged to meet him on 2 occasions never turned up and never returned any phone calls...so I gave up even though he said he was well into the gig type thing I had proposed.
