buying a mtb (1 Viewer)

i've been looking at two different bikes within my price range=max 600. a kona fire mountain and a specialized hardrock disc. can anyone recommend either, or some other bike maybe? i don't really know so much about the different parts and brands and shit. thanks

The kona is nice (small-ish frame with a sloping downtube?) Dunno anything about that specialized.

Me too. Don't make me want one any less though. I would'nt start small niether;preferably starting off with 2 tonne, Teutal-made behemoth of a machine that makes trafficlights cry and mothers take their kids indoors. Then i'd change my middle name from 'peter' to 'Danger' and drive around scowling at churches and things.

Steer clear of discs at that price range.They are usually mechanical(i.e. cable operated) and if they are hydraullic they are usually a cheap dodgy brand.Kona have lovely frames but have a reputation for cutting corners in oplaces like bottom bracket,front mech and stems etc.Go on MTB iireland anmd peiople will be able to give you more advice.
