I went to this yesterday. Great fun, and better than you'd expect. I actually avoided watching it for years on the basis of Robert Culp talking in Across the Border (seriously good doc on Oates) saying it was as if Peckinpah had Oates attached to strings in Alfredo Garcia. Last time I listen to Robert Culp on any important matters. A guy in work used to shake his head at me and say, 'You love Warren Oates - I can't believe you haven't seen Bring Me the head of Alfredo Garcia!'

I've never seen anyone as trigger-happy as Gig Young in that machine-gunning scene. Maniacal glee.
