Stop calling your academic record 'piss poor', Ed. I always thought you were brighter than the average bear, which I hope doesn't embarrass you.

Take it from someone who was thrown out of secondary school (okay, we cut a 'deal' where I promised to leave), specialised in dropping out of college (I even flunked out once, but that's a long story and doesn't really 'count') for about four years.

I even tried doing a science degree for a while, but the head of the chemistry department called me into his office and said, 'Uh, Jane, we really like you, but it's obvious that you HATE chemistry. Why don't we pass you and then you find something else to major in? They like you in the Art History department.' So I got a crap grade that dragged down my final results, but it didn't matter, 'cause I really did hate chemistry, but I found something I liked doing, and all has been rosy since then.

Anyway, the point of it is, your academic record from the beginning of college means a hell of a lot less than you think. Not that that's the point, since it was about not bringing it up on here, but it seemed like a relevant thing to say: no one will give a shit ever again about what marks you got. I swear.

Yers! Flunked my materials science degree out the door in 6 months (land speed record?), failed every exam. Took a "year out" that lasted five years and re-entered acadaemia once I was bored of the real world and found something i actually enjoyed being a nerd at..|..|

I remember watching the first episode the evening Channel 4 started.

they have a habit of releasing previously banned films with ridiculous amounts of badly edited cuts.

i think they've gotten a bit better now and anything they release that says Uncut is pretty much bona fide
