On that subject actually, does anyone have any experiance with getting refunds out of Aer Lingus for selling my seats (I was there in time to get on the plane)

No experience of it Wav, but this will be of interest:

Check-in for transatlantic flights closes 45 minutes before departure. For all other flights it is 30 minutes, (with the exception of flights departing Rome and Amsterdam airports which close 40 minutes before departure). Passengers attempting to check-in after these times may not be accommodated.

Note its may not be accommodated. Does that mean may in a "can't be accommodated" sense, or "at our discretion" sense? Perhaps my appaling English is confusin the issue.

If you were less than 30 minutes I'd say you have no come back.

I always wonder how they sell the tickets at 30 minutes anyway, its not like they'd have a load of punters turning up at Dubrovnik going "here, Aer Fungus, whats the story with the plane? Is it full or wha'?" in Croatian.

Probably give the seats to punters who missed their flights the day before or something.

the holiday ws great, Croatia is unspeakably beautiful, but strangely dead after 11 at night. and no, no hookers, couldnt afford them.

food average; Dubrovnik is beautiful; our flight was diverted to Split on the way over due to an "overtime" issue

Thanks, I had a look into it yesterday, and as I suspected, I havent a nut to fling. I did write them a stern email though, take that faceless capitalism!
