Best Old band discovered this year - Rattus.

Best Festival - GGI

Most striking occurences of the year - Mayday shenanigans, red ink/murder city.

Most predictable occurence of the year - People starting to emigrate from the Irish punk scene

Biggest loss of the year - Castlebar, Derenzy, Cabra Park

Most ridiculous session of the year- Tunisia - what was that all about eh?

Award for above and beyond the call of duty - the many people of floors of Dublin I've crashed on on too many drunken nights, ggi shit crew,
gig promoters and general event organisers nationwide

Overall impression of irish punk 2004 - a positive year, shit loads of stuff going on.

Predictions for 2005 - we are all going to miss the collective efforts of the measa folk more than we realise. Bohs session crew to grow, anti crust backlash in the south and a belfast style spikes and studs scene to emerge.
 
Best Zine - Ballixed #1 , absolute genius.

Best Irish Album - Whatever Serpents brought out.

Best International albums - Warcry "Maniacs on Pedestals , Ekkaia LP, Disease LP .

Best Gigs- K-town,GGI,Discharge in amsterdam and Disease in ktown.

Best visual artist - Eric Measa , and he has promised to start drawing cider drinking punx and skulls in his new zines again.10 on 10.

Best Venue - Any of the places the kilcoole people use.

Best Film - House of Flying Daggers

Best all things taken into consideration band of the year - The Dagda by miles....

Best new Bands - Burn it to the Ground

Best Old band discovered this year - Any of the old finnish stuff i listen to.

Best Festival - K-town 04

Most striking occurences of the year - Derenzy gettin engaged.

Most predictable occurence of the year - Twats in the dublin scene moaning about shit.You boring pricks.

Dumbest trend of the year - "Bike Punx" : lads cop on , its just a bike.Phrases like "Another hero in the war against traffic" just aren't cool !bog

Biggest loss of the year - My hearing ...

Most ridiculous session of the year - Probably the last night of ktown ,when lynched played for about 6 hours.Or when me and damo got bollixed and stole a certain sellyoutty bands rider.

Award for above and beyond the call of duty - Everyone who has been so supportive of EASPA MEASA this year...You made my year fucking great.

Overall impression of irish punk 2004 - Thats a tough one.

Predictions for 2005 - I see things going downhill in a big way around Ireland.The interest isn't there for hardcore punk anymore I dont think.Eh someone else will get married,loads of people are going to leave the country.

Overall impression of irish punk 2004 - people beginning to come to gigs in cork, alot of decent bands coming out of cork and ireland in general

Predictions for 2005 - dublin to finally crawl up it's own arse, cork to lose another venue, ireland to lose another band, leo to lose his beard

annoying trend of the year - punks "discovering" black metal and then complaining when they find out (shock!Horror!) that it doesn't have the same ethical or political leanings as punk :eek: /opening a zine you think is the new Cometbus and then finding out it's actually from Kilcoole/Bullet belts/d beat/me saying "yeah I've nearly got this book thing finished" and then not actually finishing it/sleep deprivation

cunt of the year - Me. I doubt anyone will argue with that.

female vocalist of the year - leila at 3 am

comedian of the year - ian moore and his whole "yeah I'm going deaf and the doctor says i can't play music anymore/wait till you hear my new band" routine.comedy gold.

Loss of the Year - John Peel

"Nice One" award for being legends - Una.the entire city of Cork. And Ed.And the Red Ink/Murder City folks.

Predictions for 2005 - Revenge.Oh yes, revenge. .|..|

worst person- cabra park landlady! (altho she did let me off with the insane amount of money i owed her)

best visual artist- erm...stanto!

best bands ive discoverd in the past year- defiance ohio, soophie nun squad.

Best Festival - I only went to Leeds. That was fun.

Most striking occurences of the year - I went to Leeds in a very last minute dash fashion, was great up until I got stuck in Cardiff train station on the way back for hours with two junkies as the only company.

Most predictable occurence of the year - The terrifying rise of Emo.

Biggest loss of the year - Fitzy (come home :( )

Most ridiculous session of the year - Leeds. Jesus.

Award for above and beyond the call of duty - That bus driver who let me get to Leeds from the ferry for free.

Overall impression of irish punk 2004 - All the way up to 11.

Predictions for 2005 - And yea there shall come a torment like none other to the malignant human race, who have fallen from grace unto decadence, light unto darkness and life unto death. The seas shall run as red and the skies shall burn with flame. Evil shall rule all the land and all goodness in the world shall be erased.
 
biggest disapointment: reading posts on this site, is the scene back home really that lame?

Biggest pain in the arse: whiny jaded punx that aren't even 23 years old.

Best zines: The Goblin, Ration#3

Best gigs:hmmm, Easpa Measa at GGI were really great.

Best Movies: Bubba Ho Tep, baadassss, coffee and cigarettes.

Annoying Fad: formuliac boring hardcore, nice one to all the poseurs for forming lame bands and making one of the most energetic and exicting parts of punk boring.

People who should be boycotted: bands who still do the whole DIS thing, jesus get some ideas of your own for shites sake.

unpopular person: probably me after writing this, whatever.

High Hope for 2005: I'm wrong about my prediction

predictions for 2005: go back to Ireland and find everybody has dropped out of the scene and all the decent bands have broken up.
people continue to take for granted or criticise the hard work of others while doing fuck all themselves.

Best Irish Album/Demo: too many.. Revolution Of A Sun, Serpents, Langdon Beck, Murdoch... and many more

Best New Irish Band: Captain Insano, The Boy You Hit Is Dead

Best gig: Jazz Funeral both nights.

Best "Scene" (yes thats scene with the ""): Cork, by miles.

Honourable nice people awards: Dylan and Soldiers and Beck crew and Kilcoole Massive, all the bands we've had the privilege of playing with, Momme and Bob in Ballina, and everyone whoputs on shows. Leo and the Rev boys, as always.

Best Zine: Eh... My Zine there like will be out in 2 weeks.... what zines??!!

Predictions for 2005: We all continue to remain single because of spending way too much time on the net, and we all get the gush from wacking off too much to some milf porn site.

oh and cork continuing to be a great place to play.

Best Venue: Freds, Cork. St Patricks Hall Greystones

Wish for 2005: every irish band does at least one irish tour and releases a new cd.

Most striking occurences of the year - Mayday raids on my house, spending over €400 in one hour today on presents, class a drugs.

Most predictable occurence of the year - people getting way too defensive if you question anything they do.. people leaving the country and then straight away going on the internet to say "oh my god i can't believe you are all bickering so much". James cody being the only exception.

Biggest loss of the year - meh

Predictions for 2005 - Snoop dogg/Hatebreed/Taking back sunday/Converge rock our puny minds. More cliques!! More rediculous arguments!! More post-hc bands emerging.. for better or worse. Me stanto and gary forming a hiphop collective.
More "bullet for my valentine" style "emo" bands, more pink belts!! More fighting back against the pigs.

Not sure if i'm with you on this one ian, especially considering the rise of
www.emohardcore.tk and www.punkforit.com
as much as i was jaded with it at the start of the year i feel hardcore (in its many forms) is really on the rise and there's some deadly shit going down.

Forgot to mention the coldspoon conspiracy, my remorse and The Killing Spree in my best of's they're all the ones to watch in 05.
