The Lobotomies (Belfast)
Tuesday 23rd June
The Pavilion
Belfast
Adm £5, Doors 9 p.m
Surrender are a punk rock band from California, on tour in Europe and fresh from playing with Limp Wrist in England. They have made the effort to come over to Ireland so let's help them have fun. Not to be confused with "No Surrender" who are a different kind of band probably.
Only Fumes and Corpses are a hardcore band from Galway. They are playing their first gig in Belfast in a while, with a new line-up in place, but it should be as fast and heavy as ever.
The Lobotomies are of course punk rock from Belfast. Featuring Neil Lennon on guitar, come along and shout some sectarian abuse and death threats at him.
This will be the last gig I am putting on in Belfast for the forseeable future, as I am moving to Dublin to go to University. After nearly 10 years putting on gigs here it will be a good change for me, and it seems like there are enough people doing things now to keep the punk scene alive in Belfast. The last 5 years were often tough after the close of the Warzone, it takes a lot of perseverance to organise gigs without having a constant place to have them, but it's great to see plans being made at last for something to replace it, and everyone that has managed to keep things going in the years in between should be proud of their hard work.
