Artists sign up and connect their social media accounts like Soundcloud, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Last.fm. This lets them track their performance and compare it across channels, as well as see their fans’ age, gender, and location demographics. Artists also get fan influence and sentiment breakdowns thanks to reputation measurement and natural language processing.

For even deeper analytics about their music, artists can share their songs to social networks through BeatDeck’s publishing system. This gives them a heatmap of which parts of their songs users are skiping to, pausing at, or rewinding to so they can listen again. Conversion metrics indicate which channels best turn listeners into fans, and where they’re getting reshared. It’s valuable data mosts indie rockers don’t have the skills or time to track by hand. It could tell them where to book their next tour date, which part of their song to pitch for commercials, and which social networks they should focus on.

This sounds exactly like what http://sumall.com does except aimed as musicans.

It's quite sad really that bands feel the need to fetishise themselves over their audience, even down to what part of a song a user is scrubbing back to. Are they artists or marketeers?

Thinking of applying for a large grant to fund a new start up company that makes a product that utilizes existing technologies, but repackages them in a different GUI. The focus will be some sort of streaming music related thing, were bands will provide all the content for free, like how they normally do now.
I think I'll probably get maybe 2-3 years worth of revenue in grants etc as it's ' an emerging platform', then move on to the next start up app. I might even get 10 years from one 'company/app' to another if I can write enough marketing bullshit in a business plan.
