Crëvecoeur

Crëvecoeur is an unusual French trio formed in 2003 in Nancy. Initially formed by two young multi-instrumentalists playing guitars, percussions, harmonium, trumpets and various toy-instruments, *Crëvecoeur* were later joined by a further violin player/multi-instrumentalist. Their songs are
mostly instrumental pieces, a tribute to the glorious days of soundtrack music, yet with a pop sensibility. Crëvecoeur could be the result of the encounter between Calexico and Pascal Comelade, or Henry Mancini and The Black Heart Procession*....

Crëvecoeur have already played many shows, opening for such bands as Karate (Usa), Dead Meadow(USA),The Low Low's (Usa), Marvin (Fr),and Do Make Say Think (Ca).

In 2005, their first single was released by the small independent label *Euphrate Records*. The first album, entitled «1» was released on March 2007 on *Drella Records* in collaboration with *DSA*. In 2008 «2» was released to great reviews and saw Crëvecoeur tour all over Europe, Ireland and the UK.

GROOM

GROOM began life in 2004 in Dublin, arising out of the ashes of alt-folk band Settler. Starting off as an electro-folk two piece centred around the songwriting of Michael Stevens, they played some intimate gigs in Ireland’s capital, and shared a stage with Deanna Varagona (LAMBCHOP). Having released a short experimental album, Stitch, GROOM soon expanded into a four piece and began to explore synth-folk-rock territory. They played this particular brand of indie folk-pop around Ireland in late 2005, made some appearances on various compilations, and even released a Christmas single. 2006 saw the release of GROOM’s first album proper, All This Happened, More Or Less on Fairview House Recordings. The record was well-received all round and got GROOM some deserved supports with Jawbone, Jeff Tweedy (WILCO), Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, and Evangelicals.

GROOM are Michael Stevens (guitar, vocals, synths), Jeroen Saegeman (guitar, melodica, keyboards), Wil McDermott (bass, synths), Brian O’Higgins (drums), and Ruan Van Vliet (drums, percussion, synth, autoharp).

"...childish, playful, not-at-all wise...Groom have almost realised the lie - but still they're yelling it, all together, like fools, like fools, like lovesick fools." - Said The Gramophone music blog

"very catchy indie rock sounds with lots of old style crunchy analogue synth sounds, some lovely vocal harmonies and some seriously bouncy singalong choruses" - Road Records web site (review of All this Happened, More Or Less)

"gorgeous choruses...manages to fill something of a spacy sadness, that's built for those who might like a little melancholy sometimes, but without the hang-ups." - Eclectic Honey music webzine (review of All this Happened, More Or Less)

Mackerel The Cat

The name Mackerel the Cat comes from a novel by Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami. The songs follow a surreal pop and sinister folk aesthetic, and are as catchy as they are odd. The instrumentation includes: vocals, piano, guitars, double bass, drums, glockenspiel, melodica, cello, tibetan bells, radio static.

SquAreHeAd

Squarehead is a boy called Roy and his first venture into the world of acoustic ear massaging. Since his band Vimanas year long "hiatus" (which began last year) he's been paddling his own brand of "look at me I've got an acoustic guitar" childish attention seeking. So since he's only finding his feet, if you have any negative comments please keep them to yourself, or hurl them at him if that's what makes you happy, he should be old enough.
